Husk

Not to be confused with the 2008 Philippine movie of the same name. That movie is about a guy spending the afternoon waxing his floor to a good shine, while this one is a bit more entertaining than that.

From IMDB:

"A group of friends stranded near a desolate cornfield find shelter in an old farmhouse, though they soon discover the dwelling is the center of a supernatural ritual."

I can't say I liked or disliked this movie. It didn't do anything ground breaking. It wasn't good enough to say I liked it, nor was it really that bad to say I disliked it. It's just average. If you're looking for something to rent one night I'd give it a go. Some of the visuals are creepy.. scarecrows with smiley faces, people nailing their fingers.

You Again (2010)

I'll be honest. I would have not rented this movie in a million years. The main reason I got it because Redbox DVD was running a special. Rent two movies and get 1 free for Valentine's Day. I needed to rent one more. The other reason is my Girlfriend likes Betty White.

This movie was horrible! It was about a girl who got picked on in high school, only to shed her inner geek and grow up successful, then to come home for her Brother's wedding to find out she's marrying the girl who used to torment her.

This movie doesn't have one funny part in it. Not once did I laugh. My Girlfriend didn't think the movie was funny either.

I told her that she better not fall asleep and an hour later I find out I'm the only one who finished watching the movie, so I kept looking over to see if she's still awake. She ended up falling asleep, followed by me. I did see 99% of the movie, but I wish I hadn't.

Youth In Revolt (2009) - Movie

This wasn't hilarious as in making your ribs hurt, but it did have a bunch of funny moments. I thought the cast played their parts well.

Michael Cera is still that awkward kid, but in this movie gets to step out a little more as "Francois" his bad-ass alter-ego. Some of the things he would do as his alter-ego was funny and the moustache made it all the more funny.

Jean Smart sure knows how to play a trashy girl. I'm not sure most of the movies she was in, but I do recall her having a brief fling with Frasier and from the movie Garden State. Far from her Designing Women persona. I'm sure she has other trashy roles on her resume.

Steve Buscemi played a great white trash father.

The only role I thought wasn't as good as it could have been was that of Fred Willard. He was good at what they had him do, but I wish he had more of a part in the movie. He's so funny some times.

The Lovely Bones (2009) - Movie

I thought this movie stunk. It was kind of boring. Parts of it were okay, but most of it was just unnecessary visuals.

Some of the parts I didn't think were realistic.. I mean, come on, how stupid was that girl. You're all alone in the middle of a field with some strange dude and you go into a hole in the ground?!

One time when I was younger, I was walking to school and it was raining. The lady a few doors down from me offered me a ride to school. I didn't accept it. Just about everyone I know was taught to "Say no, then go, and tell someone you trust."

.. and how stupid was the Sister?! She's also being watched, yet she doesn't tell anyone. Finally, she goes in the killers house when he's not there, she hears him come home, yet she still sits there and reads the book like she had brought it into the bathroom while taking a dump. Get the f--- up off the toilet, don't even wipe your ass, just run!!! Before you die too.

Don't read on if you don't want to hear about the ending. It was incredibly stupid. Instead of her leading them to the safe, she manifests herself just so she can get a kiss then the killer slips and falls off a cliff. If I'm not mistaken I think the killer still had his glasses on when he got to the bottom. How is that possible?

Paranormal Activity

Wednesday's is $4 movie night near me. Stupid me I forgot it was Seniors only. Being that I'm nowhere near ready to kick the bucket yet, I had to pay full price $9.50 x 2. Tuesday is the night everyone can get in for 4 bucks.

I can't believe there's some people out there who even like this movie.

During the first few moments with it's "home movie camera like feel" I figured the beginning would suck and thought eventually it would get better. It didn't. This was worse than the Blair Witch Project.

From 7:40pm to almost 8:30pm I sat there bored out of my mind. Oh I'm so scared.. the door moved and there was a little noise. I've woke up from dead sleep (maybe even at 2:09 AM) hearing worse noises than that coming out of my dog's ass.

Maybe you're going to say I didn't give the movie enough time to get going? Come on it was over 30 minutes at least. I bet the people working on this movie set also worked on Schindler's List or something equally as boring. Zzz.

The people in the commercial for this movie (you know the ones sitting in the theater watching the movie) did a better job acting then the actual people in the movie. They made me believe this movie might have some substance and something scary. I get more excited watching the "ghost" shows on TV: Ghost Adventures, Paranormal State, Paranormal Kids, or Ghost Hunters.

I'm 36 years old and I don't think I've ever walked out of a movie until tonight.

Someone said, "You have to appreciate the this-could-happen-to-me feel of this movie". It already has happened to me! I come home to my apartment, I get in bed with my Girlfriend, I sometimes film things, I use my computer, I cook eggs, sometimes a door moves or I hear a noise, sometimes I wake up at 2:09am. Sure all those things have already happened to me, just like in the movie.
