Senape's Pitza - Hazleton, PA

There's various styles of pizza around the country, New York, Chicago, California, etc. I generally prefer New York style, but I would say Senape's is my favorite out of everything I've ever eaten. It ranks up there as one of the best things I've ever eaten, period.

Here's a picture of how a box of Senape's Pitza comes:

You can use that if you want the address. From New Jersey, the drive for me is about four hours ONE WAY, but it's so worth it. They used to be (not sure what they are now) $5 bucks for a box of 12 slices and I usually order about 20 boxes. Most of the family likes them and we'll even eat them in the car on the way home.

Along the way there's some neat stores to stop at, like an indoor antiques places, and a bunch of stores up in Jim Thorpe. That's a town, not a person, well maybe at one time it was a person, but you get it.

Here's a picture what the pitza looks like, but this picture doesn't show you a full box.. these aren't my pictures by the way:

The top three are slices from a box of 12. The bottom is a pitza boat, but I can't comment on those as I've never seen or had one. The pitza has a unique combination of cheese, a tangy sauce, and a soft crust. I eat it cold and think it tastes worse if you eat it hot.

  1. I made some pizza the other night.. well I bought Shoprite pizza. They were on sale two 12" pies for $4.99. I topped one with a bunch of shredded Romano Cheese, and some shredded provolone.

I didn't finish both pies, but had some left over in the morning that I ate cold. It kind of tasted like Senape's! Not quite there, but you sort of got that tangy flavor.

  2. Recently took a trip to Niagara Falls. On the way back I took a side trip to stop at Senape's, but they weren't open. I opted for Longo's, which I know you can buy all over.. Senape's is still the best. It seemed to have more sauce and flavor. Love their cheese blend.

  3. If you're making the drive to get Senape's from New Jersey like me, there's a closer place to get your "Hazleton" fix. It's called Hazleton Connection. For me it's about an hour closer and I can also get some Farmer's Iced Tea.
