Quick Bubble Pizza

This is quick, inexpensive, and tastes really good. Mine took awhile longer because I caramelized some onions, but you can put whatever you want in it.

Ingredients:

2 packs of refrigerated biscuit dough, 6 biscuits each
1 jar pizza sauce
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

At first you'll probably say, "Turkey Seasoning?". Well, the original recipe called for a few bay leaves. The seasoning I used is a blend of rosemary, oregano, sage, ginger, and marjoram. I thought that sounded alright on pizza. You can use whatever you want. Maybe you have some Italian Herb blend laying around.

The biscuit dough was the cheap supermarket brand. Instead of over $2 for one pack, I paid .69 cents! The cheese was on sale for $1.77 or $1.88 (I forget which) and the pizza sauce was under $2 for a 14 ounce jar. The herbs I had already.

Heat the oven according to directions on the biscuit dough package. Lightly grease a 9 x 13 baking dish. With a sharp knife cut the biscuit dough into 4 triangles and put in a large mixing bowl. Add in the pizza sauce, herbs, and 1.5 cups cheese. You can also mix in toppings if you want. After mixing, put in your baking dish and top with remaining cheese. Bake according to directions on biscuit dough package. I put mine in for an extra 5 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

I think it came out almost perfect. For next time I think it needs a few dashes of red pepper flakes. In my recipe I had only used one onion, but I think two would be perfect.

Here's a link to the original recipe if you want to see it in a oven safe skillet: Pass The Sushi.

Very Cherre - Tart Cherry Blueberry

These were $2.49 for an 11 ounce bottle at the farmers market. I've never seen them anywhere else. Comes in four flavors.. Cherry, Cherry Pomegranate, Cherry Cranberry, and the one pictured above, Cherry Blueberry. Interesting bottle. That's not a bad graphic editing job on my part. The left side is curved a bit and bumpy, the right side really is flat.
I didn't check the label before I bought this and I'm always disappointed when ingredients say "grape juice". Kind of misleading when the front says "cherry blueberry". The image above was from their website, but the actual product color looks nothing like that. It's very purple.

The flavor was not tart and I didn't taste a lot of cherry. Blueberry and grape were most prominent here. I like cherry, but really only bought this because it said tart. Not something I'd buy again.

Blast by Colt 45

The logo looks like it came from the movie The Wash. It's no wonder they got Snoop Dogg for advertising. I miss the old St. Ides commercials where they'd have people rapping. I'd like to see them do more of that.

This is another one of those flavored malt beverages. This one from Colt 45. They kind of taste like the other ones, Four Loko, Mad Baller, etc. They all give my girlfriend a headache afterwards, including this one. It comes in four flavors, but what you really need to know is that I notice it gets my Girlfriend horny fast. If only I could get her to drink some more. She liked the taste, but not the headache.

Ferri's Potato Pizza - Moscow, PA

Today I went to Moscow..... Moscow, Pennsylvania that is. It's just over a 2 hour drive for me (one way), but I've been dying to try this special pizza they only make during Lent. Potato Pizza!

The building is kind of weird. You enter the building through a little coal mining museum. Lots of little old pieces to see. After that you're in a little store that sells handbags, lotions, soaps, and other girlie things. After that you're in the pizza place. Their potato pizza is so popular they have a map on the wall to pin where you came from. There's also a place you can write your town down.

This pizza was fantastical!! Totally worth the drive!! Did I just make up that word? It's fantastic and magical in one. It's like you're eating a pierogi on top of pizza dough. Very cheesy. The potatoes had a nice velvety texture, but still had some chunks in it. Looks like they had some egg yellow in it, because that picture is accurate. It's not the camera making it look yellow. There was lots of onion and garlic flavor. I read online somewhere that they use white, red, and green onion, but I'm not sure.

The pies were full tray of 12 slices for $16.50 or a half tray of 6 slices for $8.25. It was very filling. Between the two of us we couldn't finish a full tray. I was stuffed, but glad I didn't over eat like I normally do, because that makes driving home much harder.

You can bet this will be on my list of places to visit next year during lent. In fact, I'm going to see about sending some pizzas to my Mom in Hawaii.

Green Giant Fresh Whole Baby Idaho Potatoes

I've never seen these in Shop-Rite where I normally go. I had just left Shop-Rite as a matter of fact, but forgot dog food.. so I hit up Acme on the way home.

These come in four flavors:

Roasted Garlic Butter, Three Chile Sauce, Mesquite Smoked Bacon, and Four Cheese.

They were $2.99 a bag and I think a good size as a side dish for two people, but they were so tasty I wanted to eat them all myself.

We had Roasted Garlic Butter so far and it was fantastic. The potatoes were really really tender and really really flavorful. Just the right amount of sauce inside. The red baby potatoes have sort of a sweetness to them I think.

Cooking them is easy.. pop in the microwave for about five and a half minutes.

Scope To Go

I don't know where I was heading, but I was on the road and wanted something to freshen breath. I bought this Scope To Go Breath Mist. They come in Mint and Peppermint flavor.

I would not recommend the mister. You turn to open it, spray, then turn again to close. The problem is when you put this in your pocket it fills up with dirt and lint. So, in effect I only got to use it once or twice before it because horribly dirty.

Mikonos Restaurant - Ewing, NJ

I needed some place to go for Valentine's Day. I've had Greek food before, but I wanted some place I'd never been to. This place has been on my list for quite some time, so it's nice to be able to finally mark it done. The restaurant is on Scotch Road in Ewing, NJ. You can find their website here. They're open every day of the week until 9 or 10 PM.

The dress is casual and the decor inside is pretty simple. They have plenty of seating, some tables and some booth's. There's a really big sunroom that's really nice. I think the prices are very reasonable.

Sitting at our table we were promptly greeted by our waitress. Recently I was at an Indian restaurant where the guy would walk back and fourth and look at you every fifteen seconds. How annoying. The waitress we had was attentive to all the tables she was working, but not annoyingly so. She was very nice, friendly and chatty. Perhaps the best waitress I've had in a long time. My only complaint would be that she should have known what the specials were without going out to read the sign at the door. No big deal, though.

We started off with Greek Coffee. This took a little bit to make, which the waitress apologized for, but really it wasn't that long. I think it was worth it. It's like some really good espresso, with a nice earthy tone. You have to let it sit for a few minutes, not only because it's hot, but because whatever is in it (just coffee grinds?) needs to settle down. If you drink it too early it'll have a gritty texture to it. All of that settles to the bottom and when your done you flip over the cup and they'll read your fortune. I was joking that I should have turned my cup over when the waitress wasn't looking and quickly try to make an image of the Virgin Mary with my fork for when they came back to read our fortune. That would have been funny, but I'm not that artistic. I don't think a stick figure would have been as believable.

That's not theirs or my picture. I just thought I'd show what Greek Coffee looks like. Now that I'm thinking about it I think it had a slightly chocolaty and smokey flavor in addition to what I mentioned above. Next time I'm definitely having more than one!

We didn't ask for it, but I'm guessing every table receives some pita bread with olive oil and Greek spices as a starter while you wait. The pita could have been a bit done more, so it would have been slightly toasty, but either way it was tasty and warm. Maybe that toasty thing is just me. I'm not sure how it would be served in another Greek restaurant. Careful not to fill up, because some meals come with a salad, which we didn't know. With an appetizer, salad, side dish, and a meal we left this place absolutely full.

For our appetizer we tried the Melitzanosalata. No need to pronounce it. Just point to the menu or say the eggplant appetizer. This is eggplant made with (I think) olive oil, lemon juice, tomato, and a ton of garlic. I'm not sure what else was in it, but it was excellent. I wasn't kidding about the ton of garlic either. I'd definitely order this again.

Next up came some salad. Had I known they came with our dinner I'd probably have skipped them. I'm not usually a salad eater. Lettuce, red onions, grape tomatoes, pretty simple. It was too light on the dressing, though. Had there been more dressing I'd probably have ate it all. The tomatoes were very tasty.

We both ordered the same entree. It was a Valentine's Special. They might have it on other days, but this was my first time there so I'm not sure. I can't pronounce the name, but it was meatballs in a red wine tomato sauce and a side of rice for $10. The meatballs were a good size. They seemed to have a more dense texture than I'm use to. I liked it. I'm not sure what they put in the rice. Maybe just butter. It was done perfectly. What I really enjoyed was the red wine sauce. It was very tasty, but didn't seem over acidic, and my stomach thanked them. I wasn't having heartburn later on that night.

We also had two sides of potatoes. First up are the lemon potatoes. They're boiled potatoes and sauteed in olive oil, lemon juice Greek spices. Very tasty. You get some really tangy bites in there. One order was enough for two people. Really good and highly recommended. Second up was an order of Greek Fries just to see what they were. Don't waste your time with these. They're frozen fries with a tiny bit of spice thrown on top. With all the other freshly prepared food available it would have been nice to see fresh cut fries instead.

The bottom line? Just about everything was really good and I can't say enough good things about the service from our waitress. I'm sure the desserts would have been good too, but we were too stuffed to even think about them. We'll be back again soon. I've actually got a craving for that coffee, so will probably be back very soon.
